The Skye Mountain Rescue team has two main bases located at Sligachan and Glenbrittle which were built with the generous help of the St. John Scotland. These act as base stations and incident control centres during rescues.

As well as the main mountain rescue bases the team also stores equipment at Broadford and Portree police stations to enable a more rapid response to incidents in south Skye or the Trotternish ridge in the north of the island.
